Glycerin

Glycerin also known as glycerol is a non-toxic clear and colorless syrupy liquid that is used as a moisturizing agent. It is clear, non toxic and odorless.

It is a natural compound derived from either animal fats or vegetable oils.  It acts as a moisturizing agent by pulling water into the outer layer of the skin. 

Glycerin is used in soaps, shampoos, conditioners and cleansers.  It can also be added to some food products as a type of sugar alcohol.
