Citric acid is an organic compound that is naturally found in citrus fruits.

It acts as a natural preservative, and antioxidant that also provides a very fragrant natural citrus like scent. 

It is a sharp crystalline acid naturally found in the juice of lemons and other many citrus fruits such as limes, grapefruits, pomelo and oranges.  It can also be manufactured by fermenting sugar.  Citric acid is often used for flavoring and also as a setting agent.

Citric Acid is used in skincare as it helps exfoliate dead skin cells as well as fight the ill effects of inflammation and aging.  Citric acid is also known to help lighten dark spots and assist with hyper pigmentation.
