FDA also known as the Food and Drugs Act which was founded in 1906 is responsible for protecting the public health by regulating practices pertaining to food, drug, cosmetic and other biological products. 

It serves as a governing body to ensure that safe practices are in place and followed for the manufacturing of all goods that people and animals ingest or use topically. 

The FDA set out key performance measures that manufactures must follow in order to be lawfully sold to the public.
